Job summary

Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) invites applications for adjunct faculty. This is a pool posting; when needs arise, divisions pull from eligible applicants. Teaching may be face-to-face, remote, or online, and adjuncts are employed to teach up to 12 credit hours in fall and spring.

Loads depend on student enrollment and staffing. The adjunct faculty appointment contains no guarantee of continued employment. Applicants must reside in the DC/VA/MD DMV area.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal skills; native or near-native oral and written English skills.
• Ability to work with a diverse student population.
• Demonstrated ability to produce quality work (portfolio review).
• Master’s degree or higher in the teaching field or master’s with at least 18 graduate hours in the field. Regional accreditation required.

Responsibilities

• Teach designated classes.
• Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
• Maintain records, assign grades, and assess progress.
• Adhere to NOVA and VCCS policies; maintain current competence in the field.
