Job summary

Atelier Fine Art Services, LLC in New Castle, DE is hiring a Fine Art Storage Assistant to support daily operations of two storage facilities. You will assist managers in safety, paperwork, packing/unpacking artwork, and overseeing shipments while maintaining high standards of care and organization.

Eligible candidates should have a BA in Fine Art or related field and at least one year of art-handling experience.

Qualifications

• BA in Fine Art, Art History, Museum Studies, or related field preferred.
• At least one year of art-handling or related experience; familiarity with museum standards and best industry practices.
• Meticulous work habits and attention to detail.
• Ability to use moving equipment such as pallet jacks, J-bars, dollies and lifts.
• Independent working capability and productive teamwork.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 80 lb and moving up to 150 lb; able to climb ladders up to 20 ft and work on lifts of 30 ft; able to use hand and power tools.
• Ability to use hand and power tools and work on high lifts and ladders.
• Basic computer skills; familiarity with iOS devices; familiarity with databases and registration is a plus.
• Have a vehicle and valid driver’s license; able to run errands.
• Adhere to dress code (uniform shirts and dark jeans, black jeans or khaki pants).
• Must pass background check and TSA Threat Assessment.

Responsibilities

• Proactively and routinely clean the facility and organize supplies and equipment.
• Receive and release shipments with proper paperwork.
• Pack and unpack artwork; perform condition reporting.
• Escort and monitor clients, vendors and guests.
• Move objects safely to maximize space; handle large/heavy items.
• Install and configure racking and cage units; operate order picker and other lifts.
• Safely handle various types of art, furniture and artifacts; perform general building maintenance.
• Update registration and inventory details for long-term storage and shipments.
• Interact professionally with clients about care of property.
• Work safely at heights on lifts/scaffolds; working across two facilities as needed.
