Job summary

Honigman LLP in Detroit is seeking a Financial Systems Technician to support, maintain, and optimize the firm’s financial software platforms. You will liaison between Accounting, Finance, IT, and business users to assure smooth operation and data integrity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience supporting financial, accounting, ERP, or business management systems.
  • Experience in a professional services or law firm environment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting legal financial systems such as Aderant Expert, Elite 3E, Elite Enterprise, Intapp, Chrome River, or similar platforms is preferred.
  • Knowledge of financial and accounting processes including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and collections.
  • Experience with SQL queries, report writing, and database concepts.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with reporting tools such as SSRS, Power BI, or similar platforms is preferred.

JOB SUMMARY

The Financial Systems Technician is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and optimizing the firm's financial applications and related technology platforms. This position serves as a key liaison between Accounting, Finance, IT, and business users to ensure the effective operation of financial systems, resolve technical issues, support system enhancements, and assist with reporting and data integrity efforts.

The Financial Systems Technician provides day-to-day application support for accounting and financial software, participates in system implementations and upgrades, and helps ensure that financial processes are executed efficiently and accurately.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide first and second-level support for the firm's financial management systems and related applications.
  • Troubleshoot system issues, identify root causes, and coordinate resolutions with internal IT teams and external vendors.
  • Monitor system performance and ensure applications are operating efficiently and effectively.
  • Manage user access, security roles, and permissions in accordance with firm policies and internal controls.
  • Assist with application testing, upgrades, patches, and system enhancements.
User Support & Training
  • Respond to user inquiries regarding financial systems functionality, processes, and reporting.
  • Document and track issues through ticketing systems and ensure timely resolution.
  • Develop user guides, process documentation, and training materials.
  • Conduct training sessions for accounting, billing, collections, and finance personnel.
Data Management & Reporting
  • Perform data audits and validation activities to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial information.
  • Assist with data imports, exports, conversions, and reconciliations.
  • Support the development and maintenance of standard and ad hoc reports.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Accounting teams to identify reporting and analytical requirements.
Process Improvement
  • Evaluate existing financial system workflows and recommend process improvements.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to identify opportunities to automate manual processes.
  • Assist in the implementation of new technologies, integrations, and system enhancements.
  • Participate in system projects, including upgrades, migrations, and new software implementations.
Compliance & Controls
  • Maintain adherence to firm policies, security standards, and financial controls.
  • Support audit requests and provide documentation related to system processes and user access.
  • Ensure the confidentiality and security of financial and client information.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • 2-5 years of experience supporting financial, accounting, ERP, or business management systems.
  • Experience in a professional services or law firm environment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting legal financial systems such as Aderant Expert, Elite 3E, Elite Enterprise, Intapp, Chrome River, or similar platforms is preferred.

Pay Range and Compensation Package

Honigman provides a generous total compensation package, which includes comprehensive health and well-being benefits, as well as 401k and profit sharing. The anticipated annual pay range for this role is $70,000 to $90,000 (non-exempt). The actual offered pay rate will be determined based on various factors, including qualifications, experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and internal equity considerations.
