Job summary

Rehmann is seeking an experienced audit professional to support public accounting and public sector clients from our Grand Rapids office. The role emphasizes high-quality financial reporting, governance, and collaborative client service.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years of audit experience, strong GASB knowledge, and excellent communication. Bachelor’s degree required; CPA or similar certification is highly desirable. This position is on-site with a focus on client impact and teamwork.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant audit experience in public accounting or public sector entity.
• Understanding of GASB and government fund accounting, client’s business systems and industry requirements.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to self-direct and manage multiple projects / deadlines.
• Ability to lead and motivate staff and senior level associates.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Licensed CPA or other certification highly desirable, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining accounting systems including cost allocations and periodic general journal entries.
• Creating budgets and financial forecasting/projections.
• Supervising client accounting and finance staff, as required.
• Internal and external financial reporting including annual closing, analysis and audit assistance.
• Assisting with grant management, accounting and reporting.
• Participating in internal management meetings including board and related committee meetings.
• Building relationships internally to foster a culture of teamwork and collaboration.
• Providing a “wow” experience to every client.
• Contributing to the success of our clients’ organizations.
