Job summary

Missouri Department of Transportation in Lee's Summit, MO, is seeking a financial services specialist at entry/intermediate/senior levels. The position supports routine financial accounting, reporting, and related services under moderate supervision.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or four years of experience in multimodal transportation, federal/state grant program management, public/ transportation administration, transportation planning, accounting, or financial analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and corrects payroll coding, timesheets, reimbursements, and benefit-related forms.
  • Performs accounting tasks including reconciliations, discrepancy resolution, invoice processing, vendor payments, and monitoring of accounts and assets.
  • Maintains accounting systems and prepares financial statements in line with GAAP and GASB for departmental and insurance-related plans.
  • Oversees and conducts physical inventories for capital/fixed assets and consumables, both locally and statewide.
  • Manages financial processes for federally funded projects, conducts research and policy impact analysis, supports budgeting and appropriations, guides staff on financial procedures, handles property damage claims, and performs other duties.

Bachelor’s Degree: Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Planning, Public Administration, or related field

This position may be filled at one of the three levels based on knowledge, skills, and abilities. The entry salary is posted above, the intermediate salary $56,712.48, and senior salary of $61,249.44.

What you'll do:

  • Oversees and conducts physical inventories for capital/fixed assets and consumable inventory, both locally and statewide.
  • Manages financial processes for federally funded projects, conducts research and policy impact analysis, supports budgeting and appropriations, guides staff on financial procedures, handles property damage claims, and performs other assigned duties.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree: Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Planning, Public Administration, or related field, OR Four years of experience in positions related to multimodal transportation, federal or state grant program management, public or transportation administration, transportation planning, accounting, or financial analysis experience.

Special Working Conditions:

Job requires occasional, statewide, overnight travel.
