The role will report to the Director of Financial Reporting and frequently collaborate closely with the broader accounting team to support the monthly financial close.
The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on experience in statutory accounting principles, NAIC reporting, GAAP-to-statutory conversions, and insurance-company financial operations.

What You’ll Do...

  • Own the preparation, review, and timely submission of quarterly and annual NAIC statutory financial statements, including required schedules, exhibits, interrogatories, and supplemental filings.
  • Manage statutory reporting requirements across multiple insurance legal entities and jurisdictions, serving as a key internal resource on statutory accounting and reporting requirements and ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely submission. Develop and maintain GAAP-to-statutory accounting conversions, reconciliations, supporting schedules, and documentation to ensure well-supported financial reporting.
  • Lead key aspects of the monthly and quarterly accounting close activities for insurance entities, including insurance-specific accounting and actuarially determined balances, journal entries, account reconciliations, financial analysis, and variance explanations.
  • Coordinate the preparation and submission of insurance regulatory applications, amendments, licensing-related financial documentation, and other state insurance department filings.
  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, and business stakeholders on regulatory approvals, corporate transactions, new product or market filings, and other insurance-related applications.
  • Monitor developments in NAIC guidance, statutory accounting principles, GAAP, and insurance regulatory requirements, and assess impacts on reporting and accounting processes.
  • Research and document technical accounting and regulatory conclusions through clear, well-supported accounting memoranda and implementation guidance.
  • Support preparation of management reporting, board materials, risk-based capital analyses, and other financial or regulatory reporting as needed.
  • Design and implement scalable processes, systems, controls, and documentation that strengthen reporting accuracy, improve efficiency, and support the continued growth of the insurance business.
  • Support statutory audits, regulatory examinations, and state insurance department inquiries, including preparation of supporting documentation and coordination of responses.
About You...
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA certification is preferred.
  • Five or more years of progressive experience in insurance accounting, statutory reporting, financial reporting, or public accounting.
  • Experience preparing and filing NAIC statutory financial statements and related state insurance regulatory filings.
  • Strong knowledge of statutory accounting principles, NAIC reporting requirements, and GAAP-to-statutory reporting conversions.
  • Experience managing reporting and filing requirements across multiple legal entities.
  • Experience supporting insurance regulatory applications, state filings, licensing documentation, or similar regulatory approval processes.
  • Experience with or working knowledge of risk-based capital and capital and surplus requirements is preferred.
  • Familiarity with regulatory reporting tools such as Gain Compliance, Workiva, or similar platforms is a plus but not required.
  • Familiarity with RBC reporting, and regulatory reporting tools such as Gain Compliance, Workiva, or similar platforms is a plus but not required.
  • Experience working in a health insurance, managed care, benefits, healthcare, or other regulated insurance environment is strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and recurring filing deadlines.
