Job summary

Express Employment Professionals is partnering with a local higher education institution to recruit a Financial Reporting Manager to support financial operations, reporting, compliance, and audit activities.

This role will be essential in maintaining accurate financial data, coordinating month-end and year-end closings, and delivering timely reports to leadership across departments, while ensuring GAAP/GASB compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent education/experience.
• 3–5 years of experience in accounting, finance, budgeting, or related area.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, data sorting, and PivotTables.
• Ability to work with confidential financial information while maintaining integrity and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and data review.
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and internal reports.
• Identify and interpret significant variances and trends to aid decision-making.
• Develop recurring and ad hoc reports for organizational needs.
• Coordinate external financial reporting to state, federal, and regulatory bodies.
• Assist with audits by preparing workpapers and schedules and supporting documentation.
• Help ensure compliance with GAAP, GASB, and applicable requirements.
• Collaborate across departments to improve understanding of financial data and processes.
• Identify opportunities to automate processes and improve ERP functionality.
• Participate in special projects and financial initiatives as needed.

What You'll Do

• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and financial data review.
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and internal financial reports.

• Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve ERP functionality.
