Job summary

American Equity is seeking a Financial Reporting Analyst I to support the quarterly close, prepare SEC filings, and collaborate with external auditors. The role emphasizes proficiency with Workiva, Excel, and SAP within a life insurance/annuity context.

Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, with internship exposure; insurance knowledge is a plus. This on-site role offers growth in a dynamic Accounting function oriented toward strategy and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or equivalent combination of education/experience.
• Strong learning aptitude.
• Prior accounting or finance intern experience beneficial.
• Insurance or annuity experience a plus.
• Experience with MS Excel and SEC filings is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assists with quarterly financial statement close process across the Company.
• Prepares and reviews reconciliations as part of quarterly close process.
• Prepares and reviews key financial statement analysis files as part of quarterly close process.
• Contributes to process improvements for the financial statement close process.
• Prepares/reviews Form 10-Q, Form 10-K and other SEC filings using Workiva.
• Works with external auditors on reviews and audits.
• Assists with preparation of proxy statement.
