Role Summary

The Financial Reporting Accountant contributes to internal and external financial reporting at Alaska Airlines. This role supports accurate preparation of financial statements filed with the SEC and other reports for internal distribution. It also involves various month-end and quarter-end accounting procedures with limited supervision.

Key Duties

1. Supports SEC filings (10-K, 10-Qs & 8-Ks).
2. Prepares the monthly internal financial package and flash report for executive review.
3. Prepares quarterly financial decks for Air Group Board of Directors.
4. Handles quarterly US Department of Transportation filings.
5. Records monthly journal entries for assigned areas.
6. Reconciles balance sheet accounts accurately.
7. Participates in process improvement, new standards, and ad hoc projects.
8. Collaborates with external auditors during annual audits.
9. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Required Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

• 2+ years in public accounting (Big 4 or similar) or 3+ years in accounting/reporting.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related; or equivalent experience.
• Experience with internal controls.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexible schedule willingness.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

• CPA license or eligibility to sit for the CPA exam.
• Experience with Workiva or Blackline.
