Job summary

TreeHouse Foods is seeking a Financial Reporting Accountant to join our Oak Brook, IL finance team. You will prepare interim and annual financial statements, bank compliance reports, and government surveys, while delivering timely accounting estimates and research as needed.

In this role, you will generate journal entries, reconcile intercompany balances, support audits, and look for automation opportunities using tools like AI, CoPilot, BlackLine, and Workiva to improve accuracy and controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• CPA is preferred.
• Two years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
• Experience in financial reporting, auditing, or record-to-report is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.

Responsibilities

• Assist with all aspects of financial reporting including Annual and Interim Financial Statements.
• Prepare monthly or quarterly journal entries and account reconciliations for key estimates.
• Reconcile consolidation system results to trial balances and perform intercompany reconciliations.
• Support audits by preparing documentation and responses to audit questions.

Job Description

About the Role: We are seeking a Financial Reporting Accountant to join our Finance team based in Oak Brook, IL.

The Financial Reporting Accountant is instrumental to the financial reporting function, preparing interim and annual financial statements, bank compliance reports, and governmental surveys (i.e., U.S. Census Bureau and Bureau of Economic Analysis surveys). The Financial Reporting Accountant will also assist in preparation of routine key estimates and provide accounting expertise to the organization through assessment of the facts and circumstances and perform research of the relevant accounting literature.

You’ll add value to this role by performing various functions including, but not limited to:

• Assist with all aspects of financial reporting, including the preparation and review of the Annual Financial Statements, Interim Financial Statements, Investor Presentation materials, and other bank compliance reporting.
• Support the research and resolution of significant and / or non-routine transactions.
• Prepare monthly or quarterly journal entries and account reconciliations for key accounting estimates.
• Reconcile consolidation system results to trial balance reports and performing intercompany reconciliations.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes through automation and artificial intelligence (“AI”).
• Leverage tools such as Microsoft CoPilot and BlackLine to support process efficiency, accuracy, and control.
• Develop cross-functional relationships with other departments, specifically Tax, Legal, Finance, Internal Audit, and Human Resources.
• Perform assigned responsibilities in compliance with company accounting policies, internal controls, and compliance requirements.
• Provide support for internal and external audits by preparing documentation, responding to questions, gathering sampling data, and resolving assigned audit items.
• Assist with acquisition integrations, divestiture activities, reporting changes, and other finance projects.

Important Details

This is a full-time, hybrid role operating on first shift. The anticipated compensation for this position ranges from $64,000.00 - 96,000.00 USD Annually. This is the lowest to highest pay we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the pay range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs.

For certain roles, the successful candidate may be eligible for annual discretionary merit compensation award or bonus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• CPA is preferred.
• A minimum of two years of progressive accounting or finance experience is required.
• Experience in financial reporting, auditing, or record-to-report experience is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams is required.
• Experience working with SAP, BPC, and other tools such as BlackLine and Workiva is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal presentation and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the company.
• Highly organized and demonstrated ability to work on various projects at the same time.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.
• Extremely detail oriented, creative thinker with excellent analytical skills.
