Job summary

Buckingham Search is seeking a Senior Financial Reporting Accountant to join the External Reporting team for a Chicago-area client. This role offers exposure to SEC reporting, technical accounting, US GAAP conversion work, and enterprise-wide process improvements.

The ideal candidate has public-company reporting or audit experience, strong US GAAP knowledge, and the ability to research technical accounting topics. CPA preferred and Big Four or large public firm experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• 2+ years of accounting, audit, or financial reporting experience.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP.
• Experience supporting SEC filings, public-company clients, or external reporting strongly preferred.
• Big Four, large public accounting firm, or publicly traded manufacturing experience preferred.
• CPA preferred.
• Ability to research technical accounting topics and communicate conclusions clearly.

Responsibilities

• Support the preparation and coordination of SEC filings and external financial reporting.
• Help drive the organization’s transition from IFRS to US GAAP.
• Research technical accounting matters and prepare accounting memos for new or unusual transactions.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting requirements.
• Perform flux analysis and other financial compliance activities.
• Partner with accounting, finance, and other corporate teams to improve and standardize reporting processes.
• Respond to internal and external audit requests and support SOX compliance.
• Participate in financial reporting system and process enhancements.
• Work with platforms including SAP ECC, SAP Analytics Cloud, and Tagetik.
