Financial Recovery Rep develops workout strategy on classified (special asset) loans to minimize losses on a commercial loan portfolio. The position involves contacting customers with delinquent loan payments, negotiating loan collection or restructuring, and recommending or overseeing litigation, liquidation and forecast of charge‑offs and non‑accruals.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Contact customers by phone to resolve past‑due loans.
- Identify reasons for payment default.
- Determine bank position and remedies relative to bankruptcy cases.
- Develop workout strategies to minimize non‑accruals and charge‑offs and increase recovery opportunities.
- Document and maintain accurate records on accounts.
- Establish effective controls and processes to measure, monitor, and control risks.
- Oversee complex cases involving defense lawsuits and provide direction to legal counsel and/or liquidators.
- Review new legal and liquidation assignments and engage legal or liquidation vendors to aid in recovery and loss avoidance.
- Stay abreast of risk‑related law changes and legal precedent that may impact litigation or liquidation functions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- At least 2 years of experience liquidating assets held as collateral in a business banking and commercial loan portfolio.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to handle a fast‑pace environment with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of U.S. bankruptcy laws.
- Ability to identify bank position relative to potential risks associated with pursuing litigation or liquidation.
- Skill in negotiating settlements, workouts, and sale of security while adhering to state and federal regulations.
- High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Commitment to policy and procedure compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Preferred minimum of 2 years of liquidating assets held as collateral in a business banking and commercial loan portfolio.
- Experience with real estate foreclosure process preferred.
- Strong multitasking and system skills, including experience with Lotus Notes, Excel, and Word.
- Previous experience with AFS / CACS / Velocity / RIMS / CARS.
