Avior Wealth Management is a fee-based, CFP®-led financial planning and tax firm dedicated to helping clients plan with intention and live with purpose. Our internship is designed for students serious about a career in financial planning — not a passive observation experience, but an active role embedded within our planning team. Interns work alongside credentialed professionals, contribute to real client work, and leave with a meaningful understanding of what comprehensive wealth management looks like in practice.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education — Currently pursuing a degree in Financial Planning, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- CFP® Path — Enrollment in or completion of a CFP® Board-registered education program is preferred
- Technical Aptitude — Comfort learning new software; prior exposure to Excel or financial tools is a plus
- Communication — Strong written and verbal skills; professional demeanor in client-facing environments
- Discretion — Ability to handle sensitive client financial information with the utmost confidentiality

COMPENSATION
This is a paid internship. Compensation is structured as follows:
- Pay Structure — Hourly compensation commensurate with experience and academic standing
- Hours — Flexible scheduling; part-time during the semester, full-time available during summer

The Avior Financial Planning Internship provides students hands-on exposure to the tools, processes, and client-facing work that define financial planning practice. Avior’s planners are CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals, and our planning process is built around the CFP® philosophy of comprehensive, client-centered advice. Interns will learn and work within this framework — gaining an understanding of what it means to deliver truly holistic financial planning that addresses every dimension of a client’s financial life. This internship is flexible in timing and may occur during the academic semester or over a summer term.
Avior’s planning team is comprised of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals. The CFP® designation represents the gold standard in financial planning, requiring rigorous education, examination, experience, and an ongoing commitment to ethical practice. Interns will learn what it means to plan comprehensively — going beyond investments to address cash flow, insurance, taxes, retirement, estate planning, and more — always anchored by the client’s goals and values.
SOFTWARE & SYSTEMS
- Salesforce CRM — Platform navigation, client record management, and activity logging
- MoneyGuide Pro — Build and update client financial plans using industry-leading planning software
- Holistiplan — Tax planning and analysis including Roth conversion strategies and tax-efficient distributions
PLANNING SUPPORT
- Data Collection Letters — Draft DCLs to gather essential client financial information
- Meeting Notes — Type up and log notes in Salesforce following client and advisor meetings
- Plan Preparation — Assist planners with analysis and plan updates ahead of client meetings
- Research — Answer planning questions raised by planners or advisors as they arise
- Estate Documents — Review client wills, trusts, and estate plans; learn to read legal materials and illustrate the flow of assets in the event of a client’s passing
CLIENT INTERACTION
- Meeting Observation — Shadow financial planners during advisor and client meetings to observe real-world planning conversations
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
- Personal Financial Plan — Build a plan in MoneyGuide Pro to develop first-hand familiarity with the process and apply concepts to their own financial future
- Capstone Presentation — Research and present on a financial planning topic of their choice to the planning department near the conclusion of the internship
