Job description

Resource Financial Planning, Inc. (RFP) is a well-established, independent financial planning and wealth management firm in SW Portland. We're looking for a Financial Planning Assistant to join our team of advisors and planning assistants. This role offers real opportunity for growth based on performance, in a relaxed, small-team office environment. We need someone who is highly organized, communicates comfortably and professionally by phone and email, and — above all — follows through. This role requires consistent, dependable execution on recurring tasks without things falling through the cracks.

What you'll be doing

This position works closely with the advisor and handles a broad range of client service, scheduling, data entry, and general operations. You'll be the main point of contact for client scheduling and day-to-day questions.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for scheduling and confirming client appointments
  • Proactively reach out to clients to gather information needed ahead of meetings
  • Handle unsolicited calls from prospects and schedule appointments
  • Greet drop-in clients and answer phone inquiries
  • Keep the advisor informed of any new information clients share during outreach
eMoney & Data Entry
  • Maintain and update client financial planning data in eMoney, including entering new client information, updating account values, and keeping plans current ahead of meetings
  • Ensure eMoney plans are accurate and ready for advisor review prior to client meetings
  • Coordinate with the advisor to make sure plan updates reflect the latest client conversations
General Operations
  • Handle routine service matters such as name and address changes, account applications, bank authorizations, and beneficiary changes
  • Prepare correspondence and run reports as requested
  • Ensure client files and reports are prepared and current ahead of advisor meetings
  • Coordinate mailings and events with the front desk
  • Prepare paperwork, coordinate signatures, and process incoming checks
Database & File Maintenance
  • Maintain clients and appointment tasks in Redtail (CRM) and internal databases, including onboarding and offboarding
  • Keep all client records and databases accurate and current
  • Maintain physical and digital client files, ensuring paperwork is organized and complete
What we need from you
  • Bachelor's degree required; Business, Finance, Economics, or related field preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word); prior experience with eMoney and/or Redtail a plus
  • Proven track record of follow-through — this role requires someone who reliably completes tasks without ongoing oversight
  • Customer service experience with all types of clients
  • Collaborative spirit and ability to build strong relationships with team members
  • Discretion when handling confidential client and financial information
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight timelines
Compensation, Benefits & Work Environment
  • Base starting salary: $26.50-$33/hour, depending on experience
  • Retirement plan with 3% match upon eligibility
  • Additional PTO for Summer Fridays and early Friday closing year-round
  • Full gym access onsite
  • Lunch provided bi-weekly and monthly breakfast, plus access to multiple onsite cafés
  • Fully paid medical and dental insurance
  • 8 paid holidays (with extra half days), plus PTO and sick time
  • Paid licensing exams and study materials
  • Bonus upon completion of specific securities exam
