Job Title: FP&A Manager

Department: Finance

Report to: Director of FP&A

Job Level: M2 - Manager

Status: Exempt

Summary

We strive to be enterprising, respectful, inclusive, insightful, and tenacious in every aspect of our business, including our interactions with clients, colleagues, and the communities where we have a presence. We rely on these core values to serve clients in key practice areas and industries – the pillars of Brown Rudnick: crisis management, which includes restructuring, investigations, and special situations; global litigation; life sciences; technology; and brand and reputation protection.

The FP&A Manager is a finance professional who thrives on leading projects and teams and serving as a trusted business advisor to firm leadership. You’ll guide financial analysis efforts that inform critical business decisions, helping shape the direction of the firm through data-driven insights and thoughtful storytelling. Beyond preparing and reviewing monthly reporting packages, you’ll lead initiatives that uncover trends, improve forecasting, and support firm-wide planning and competitive intelligence. With regular collaboration with senior leaders, this role offers the opportunity to influence firm strategy and elevate the way we understand and use financial data.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and delivery of monthly financial reporting packages, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and timely distribution to stakeholders, while continuously seeking opportunities to streamline and enhance reporting processes.
  • Develop and refine financial dashboards and reports that highlight firm-wide performance, key trends, and variances, with an emphasis on proactive insights and actionable storytelling.
  • Drive the improvement and scalability of financial models used for planning and decision-making, collaborating with team members to strengthen assumptions, logic, and usability.
  • Interpret and analyze large, complex data sets to uncover meaningful insights that support firm strategy and cross-functional decision-making.
  • Drive the development of leadership-facing financial presentations, clearly communicating the firm’s financial health and progress toward strategic goals.
  • Ensure consistency and integrity of data across systems and reporting tools by partnering closely with other Finance teams and functions outside the Finance department.
  • Contribute to and help evolve the firm’s competitive intelligence strategy by collecting benchmarking data, analyzing legal industry trends, and framing implications for the firm.
  • Collaborate with leadership and budget owners to drive the annual planning process and forecasting cycles, ensuring alignment with firm priorities and identifying areas for efficiency and investment.
  • Partner with teams such as Marketing, People, and Operations to align on financial goals, evaluate the ROI of initiatives, and support strategic planning that contributes to the firm’s overall financial success.
  • Lead and support high-impact, ad hoc projects that explore new business opportunities, assess profitability, and explain key financial drivers—bringing forward recommendations for change where applicable.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus.
  • 6+ years of experience in progressive FP&A, ideally with 2+ years leading or mentoring others.
  • Proven ability to lead complex financial analyses and turn insights into strategic recommendations.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling, scenario planning, and data visualization.
  • Confident using PowerPoint (or similar) to create clear, compelling presentations for leadership.
  • Solid understanding of financial metrics and key business drivers.
  • Experience with BI tools like Power BI, Tableau, or SSRS—and comfortable working with large data sets.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills; able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach with a curious mindset—someone who thrives independently but enjoys contributing to a team focused on continuous improvement.
