The Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) is a key member of the Finance organization and is responsible to oversee all aspects of financial planning, forecasting, and strategic analysis within our manufacturing operations. This role is critical in partnering with senior leadership to drive operational performance, cost optimization, and long-term value creation. The Director of FP&A will not have any direct reports but will work closely with business unit Controllers. The position will be remote based and will require travel to business units.
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate brings strong business acumen, deep manufacturing finance experience, and a proven track record of leading high-impact financial processes. This individual will be able to manage processes and systems to achieve an effective environment of financial analysis that is supportive of the overall business. The ideal candidate will be hands-on and have demonstrated the ability to design, communicate, and manage financial analyses at the parent company and its subsidiaries. Reporting to the CFO, the Director of FP&A will interface with all members of the company’s leadership team and with all company functional areas, including manufacturing, IT, and business development, as well as with others. She or he will be energized by the opportunity to understand the overall business and help the company achieve broader strategic business objectives.
Responsibilities:
As a key member of the Finance leadership team, this person will be responsible for all aspects of our company’s financial planning and analyses. The Director of FP&A will work closely with the Company’s VP, Controller and the operational teams to refine and support an effective environment of financial planning and controls. Duties include:
Strategic Planning & Forecasting
- Lead annual budgeting, monthly forecasting, and long-range planning processes for manufacturing operations.
- Develop and maintain dynamic financial models that support scenario planning and business decision-making.
- Align financial plans with key operational metrics
Business Partnership
- Act as a strategic finance partner to operations, supply chain, and plant leadership teams.
- Translate complex financial data into clear insights that support operational and executive decision-making.
- Partner with production leaders on cost management, capital investment evaluations, and resource planning.
Reporting & Analysis
- Identify trends, risks, and opportunities through deep analysis of plant-level and corporate performance.
- Track and report on key manufacturing metrics including COGS, inventory turns, and margin profiles
Team & Process Leadership
- Lead and develop a team of analysts supporting multiple manufacturing sites or divisions.
- Drive continuous improvement in FP&A processes, tools, and reporting systems (e.g., ERP, BI tools).
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, corporate policies, and DOA standards
Professional Experience / Qualifications:
- 10+ years of progressive FP&A or finance experience
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a business with multi-site manufacturing operations
- Experience developing and managing complex financial models including those used for budget compilation, investment analysis modeling (i.e ROI analysis) and general financial modeling.
- Demonstrated experience taking raw data and creating a reporting output that clearly identifies opportunities and drives improvements
- Proficient in financial software with high level Excel skills, Power BI experience a plus
- Experience working in a PE backed company
- Exceptional communications skills, including ability to communicate with all levels of organization
- Attention to detail and highly organized, proactively identify and problem solve
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and good independent judgment
- Ability to influence without direct supervisory responsibilities
- Ability to lead through ambiguity and drive change in a fast-paced, results-oriented culture.
Education/Certification:
BA/BS in Accounting/Finance. Advanced degree preferred. CPA a plus
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
- Base Salary: the expected base salary range for this position is up to $200,000 per year depending on experience, paid weekly.
- Bonus: attractive, competitive annual bonus plan based on performance and profitability.
