Job description

We're partnering with an established wealth management firm in the Columbus area that's looking to add a Financial Planner to its team.

The salary is $60,000-$85,000 plus a 10% bonus (negotiable based on experience).

You would need to be in the office daily to start, and after 90 days, you would be able to work 2 days per week from home.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with at least 2 years of financial planning experience who wants to continue developing their technical expertise and eventually grow into a Financial Advisor role.

You'll work closely with experienced advisors to develop comprehensive financial plans, analyze clients' financial situations, and identify strategies to help individuals and families achieve their financial goals.

Unlike positions that primarily involve administrative responsibilities or data entry, this role focuses heavily on the analytical and technical aspects of financial planning.

The ideal candidate is analytical, extremely detail-oriented, and interested in building a long-term career in wealth management.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Develop, review, and update comprehensive financial plans for individuals and families.
  • Analyze clients' financial situations, including retirement savings, investments, income, expenses, insurance coverage, and estate planning needs.
  • Use financial planning software to evaluate different financial strategies and scenarios.
  • Identify opportunities to improve clients' financial plans, particularly in retirement, investment, tax, and estate planning.
  • Review financial information to identify errors, inconsistencies, missing details, and potential planning opportunities.
  • Research financial planning strategies and help advisors develop recommendations based on each client's goals.
  • Ensure financial plans are accurate, thorough, and ready for presentation to clients.
  • Work closely with Financial Advisors to deliver personalized financial planning solutions.
  • Prepare financial reports, presentations, and supporting materials for client meetings.
  • Participate in client meetings and financial planning discussions when appropriate.
  • Help answer client questions and coordinate follow-up items related to their financial plans.
  • Collaborate with advisors to identify additional planning opportunities and address client needs.
Team Collaboration & Operations
  • Maintain accurate client information within financial planning software, CRM systems, and other internal platforms.
  • Work with investment, insurance, and operations professionals to ensure clients receive comprehensive financial planning support.
  • Follow established procedures related to documentation, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve financial planning processes and overall efficiency.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Financial Planning, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in financial planning, wealth management, or a closely related financial services role.
  • Strong understanding of financial planning principles and the ability to analyze financial information.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to identify errors or inconsistencies in financial data.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with advisors and other team members.
  • CFP® certification or active pursuit of the designation, with the goal of obtaining certification within approximately one year.
  • Interest in continuing to develop financial planning expertise and growing into a Financial Advisor role over time.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience preparing comprehensive financial plans for individuals and families.
  • Experience or a strong interest in estate planning.
  • Knowledge of retirement planning, investments, tax strategies, insurance, and cash flow management.
  • Experience working with high-net-worth clients.
  • Experience using financial planning software and CRM systems.
  • Securities Industry Essentials (SIE), Series 7, or Series 66 licensing.

Candidates who do not currently hold the necessary securities licenses must be willing and able to obtain required licensing within their first year of employment.

Why Consider This Opportunity?
  • Clear Career Path: The company is interested in developing someone who wants to grow into a Financial Advisor position over the next 3 to 5 years.
  • Financial Planning Focus: Spend your time analyzing financial situations, developing strategies, and supporting clients rather than focusing on cold calling or prospecting.
  • Professional Development: Work alongside experienced Financial Advisors while continuing to develop your technical knowledge and pursue professional certifications.
  • Meaningful Client Impact: Help individuals and families make important financial decisions and work toward their long-term goals.
  • Collaborative Environment: Join a team that values accuracy, teamwork, professional growth, and exceptional client service.
  • Hybrid Flexibility: After approximately 90 days of initial training in the office, transition to a schedule that typically includes 3 days in the office and 2 days working remotely.

If you have a background in financial planning, enjoy the analytical side of wealth management, and want to continue developing your career toward becoming a Financial Advisor, we'd welcome the opportunity to speak with you.
