Job summary

The Virginia Department of Transportation seeks a financial support specialist to maintain and input data for a range of accounting transactions including time and attendance, accounts payable, procurement, SPCC direct charge, travel, accounts receivable, inventory, and related fiscal services. You will interpret policies, assist with financial reports, and respond to staff inquiries.

Qualifications

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with internal and external customers.
Ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
Ability to interpret and apply basic policy, procedures and implement procedural and transactional changes.
Ability to perform data entry into computerized financial systems.
Ability to prepare financial reports and run queries.

Responsibilities

Accounts Payable: verify invoices and reconcile charges; perform data entry.
Accounts Receivable: data entry and documentation, obtain approvals, resolve discrepancies.
Administrative Duties: support special projects, mail, receptionist roles as needed.
Financial Data: run queries, compare expenditures, maintain and correct data.
Inventory Data Processing: enter receipts and issues, verify daily transactions, counts, and dispose of files.
SPCC Direct Charge & Procurement: prepare requisitions and POs, verify SPCC cards, run reports.
