Position Summary:

This position will reside in the Department of Medicine Chair's Office with financial responsibilities for both HSF and UAB. Manages and has significant authority for financial operations of larger, more complex units. Typical duties include developing and administering budgets and financial systems, projecting revenue, space and facility planning, grants management, and regulatory compliance. Ensures adherence to established guidelines, policies, and procedures, and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles. Maintains accurate financial databases and provides financial guidance. May oversee billing, collections, revenue activities, and parts of the accounting function. Supervises office support and/or professional staff, including hiring, training, and evaluations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare monthly HSF transfer requests and process all required JEs for specific accounts.
  2. Process monthly HSF Journal entries for month-end close.
  3. Invoice for monthly HSF/UAB activity.
  4. Assist with annual budgets for UAB and HSF.
  5. Manage monthly accounts receivable/payable reports.
  6. Research and resolve discrepancies, follow up on outstanding payments.
  7. Manage special projects like license renewals, dues, reconciliations, and renewals.
  8. Manage HSF CC reconciliation and approval process.
  9. Handle department and division contract submissions.
  10. Process weekly HSF deposits.
  11. Oversee UAB account reconciliation.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $55,180 - $80,000.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field.
  • Five (5) years of related experience; work experience cannot substitute for education.

Preferred:

  • UAB and HSF experience.
