Positions and Compensation
  • Financial Office Professional I: Hourly rate of $22.99 - $27.64, plus bilingual and uniform allowance when applicable.
  • Financial Office Professional II: Hourly rate of $28.97 - $35.05, plus bilingual and uniform allowance when applicable.

Candidates may be hired at the I or II level depending on their qualifications and the department's needs. Employees hired at the FOP I level can progress to FOP II after completing required training, meeting qualifications, and demonstrating satisfactory performance, typically within one year.

The FOP I position is a gateway to the County’s advanced financial career path, allowing growth to FOP II and Senior roles as experience increases.

Position Description

This entry-level fiscal role involves accounting, budgeting, and financial management procedures, along with fiscal record keeping, clerical tasks, and more, depending on department needs.

Vacancies and Location

We are accepting applications to establish an employment list for current and future vacancies in the Sheriff’s Office, and potentially the Probation Department. The list will be used to fill positions at various locations throughout Santa Barbara County, and candidates must be willing to accept any assignment.

Department Duties
Sheriff’s Office

Includes accounting duties such as accounts payable/receivable, petty cash, journal entries, deposits, management reports, and customer service.

Probation Department

Includes processing accounts payable, creating purchase orders, client payments, contract monitoring, and customer service with internal and external stakeholders.

Additional Qualifications
  • Valid California Class C Driver’s License
  • Work shifts and weekends may be required
