Job summary

Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center seeks a Financial Services Specialist to coordinate insurance verification and financial clearance, assisting clients through public program enrollment and billing processes.

The role supports access to services, collaborates with clients, staff, and the Finance Department, and requires organization, confidentiality, and travel as needed within SE MN.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

• Must maintain confidentiality and complete required job training.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to client/organization locations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate insurance verification and financial clearance.
• Explain insurance coverage, payment responsibilities, and sliding fee scales.
• Assist clients with Medicaid/Medicare and public program enrollment as needed.
• Support creation and monitoring of client payment plans and self-pay billing.
• Update insurance and demographic changes in the system and assist with prior authorizations.
