Job description

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION: To partner with the Client Advisor and the advisory team to execute and coordinate comprehensive financial management for assigned clients, ensuring disciplined and integrated delivery of the firm’s full suite of financial and advisory services. The Financial Manager monitors and analyzes clients’ financial picture, coordinates implementation of transactions and planning strategies, and contributes forward-looking planning insights that support client goals. While empowered to communicate directly with clients and external professionals, the Financial Manager operates in clear alignment with the Client Advisor, who leads the relationship, to ensure coordinated advice, consistent messaging, and a seamless client experience across investment, tax, trust, estate, charitable, insurance, and operational functions.

OUTCOMES:

  • Seamless, Coordinated Client Experience - Operates in close alignment with the Client Advisor and cross-functional team to ensure consistent communication, integrated advice, and a disciplined, well-coordinated client experience across the firm’s suite of advisory and financial services.
  • Precise and Timely Financial Execution - Ensures accurate and efficient implementation of financial management responsibilities, including cash flow oversight, transactions, planning implementation, and operational follow-through, maintaining accountability for timely progress and coordinated execution in partnership with the Client Analyst, Operations and other partners.
  • Proactive Financial Insight and Project Accountability - Maintains a forward-looking view of each client’s financial picture; identifies risks and opportunities; develops financial planning recommendations in collaboration with the Client Advisor; and drives accountability across internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely completion of client initiatives.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the primary coordinator of day-to-day financial management activities for assigned clients, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and disciplined follow-through.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients in alignment with the Client Advisor and team, ensuring consistent messaging and coordinated delivery of FCI’s full suite of advisory and investment services.
  • Conduct ongoing review and analysis of clients’ financial position; identify issues, risks, and opportunities; and develop tactical and strategic planning recommendations in collaboration with the Client Advisor.
  • Execute and oversee financial transactions, including cash flow management, fund transfers, account activity, and related operational functions, in partnership with Client Analysts and Operations.
  • Coordinate implementation of investment planning strategies with the Investment Department, maintaining working knowledge of each client’s objectives and portfolio strategy.
  • Collaborate with Tax, Trust, Estate, Charitable, and Insurance professionals to support integrated planning and ensure timely execution of client strategies.
  • Identify emerging client issues, resolve routine matters independently, and escalate material risks or strategic considerations to the Client Advisor and other subject matter experts as appropriate.
  • Contribute to client meeting preparation and planning, oversee development of materials, participate in meetings as needed, and manage execution of follow-up action items.
  • Drive accountability across internal teams and external professionals to ensure client projects are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Participate in firm initiatives, professional development, and continuous improvement efforts that strengthen client service and operational effectiveness.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Accountability & Execution - Assumes oversight for the accuracy, quality, and timeliness of work in conjunction with partners. Drives projects and financial activities forward with urgency and discipline, ensures follow-through across internal and external stakeholders, anticipates obstacles, and closes loops without requiring oversight.
  • Communication - Communicates clearly, concisely, and professionally in written and verbal formats. Ensures messaging is aligned with the Client Advisor and advisory team, adapts communication style to the audience, and fosters clarity and confidence in client interactions.
  • Critical Thinking & Problem-Solving - Analyzes complex financial situations, identifies risks and opportunities, anticipates emerging issues, determines root causes, and develops practical, well-reasoned solutions that advance client objectives.
  • Decision Making & Judgment - Makes timely, informed decisions based on facts, goals, constraints, and risks. Exercises discretion in sensitive matters, balances independent action with coordinated team alignment, and escalates material issues appropriately.
  • Relationship Building & Collaboration - Builds strong, trust-based relationships with clients, colleagues, and external professionals. Values teamwork, protects confidentiality, appreciates diverse perspectives, and contributes to a coordinated, integrated advisory experience.
  • Empowerment & Delegation - Provides clear direction and expectations when delegating work, follows up to ensure completion and quality, develops others by increasing responsibility, and promotes accountability across the team.
  • Technical & Professional Expertise – Demonstrates strong working knowledge of financial planning, cash flow management, investments, tax, trust, estate, and insurance concepts. Applies this expertise accurately in client analysis and execution. Maintains relevant licenses and credentials, pursues continuing professional education, and stays current with regulatory developments, industry trends, and best practices. Leverages technology and firm systems effectively to support analysis, reporting, and disciplined implementation.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; degree in finance, accounting, financial planning, business, or a related field strongly preferred.
