Job summary

Graybar is seeking a Financial Management Trainee to develop a working knowledge of financial management within the electrical distribution business. You will learn through hands-on interaction with local financial and branch management teams and participate in specialized training.

You will gain exposure to all areas of the business, evaluate prospective customers, and assist in managing accounts and collections.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Business, Finance, Management, or related field preferred.
  • Some experience in the distribution industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of finance, commercial law, and business administration preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Make a difference.As a Financial Management Trainee, you will develop a working knowledge and understanding of financial management in the electrical distribution business through hands-on learning and interaction with the local financial and branch management teams. Our Financial Management Trainees are exposed to all areas of our business and are given the opportunity to receive specialized training. You are provided a great overview of our industry.In this role you will:Gain a working knowledge of all responsibilities and duties across the business.Evaluate and analyze prospective customers.Assist in management of customer accounts and collection efforts.Complete assigned training and development activities and educational programs in an accurate and timely manner. Provide feedback to manager on ways to improve training.Participate in special projects and meet tight and changing deadlines as required.Learn the fundamentals of the Company's business, and demonstrate proficiency in assigned specialty area.Research, discuss, and recommend best practices for assigned specialty area.Develop an understanding of the continuous improvement process and participate in various initiatives.What you bring to the table:High School Diploma or GED requiredBachelor’s degree in a Business, Finance, Management, or related field of study preferredSome experience in the distribution industry preferredKnowledge of finance, commercial law, and business administration preferredExperience with Microsoft Office SuiteUnderstanding of continuous improvement techniques and practicesOral and written communication skillsInterpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with all levels within the organization and in a team-based environmentAbility to work effectively with external customers, suppliers, and vendors if required in assigned specialty areaAnalytical, conceptual, and problem solving skillsPlanning, organizational and time management skills with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced working environmentLeadership skills with the ability to mentor and supervise othersAbility to be self-motivated, business oriented, flexible, and accountableAbility to relocate, depending on assigned specialty areaWork Shift and Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pmCompensation Details: The expected rate of pay for this position is $25.00 per hour, depending on experience.The Value of Graybar:At Graybar, we are known for our comprehensive benefits and our employee stock ownership plan!
