Department: Financial Investigation

CGS is seeking a Financial Investigator to join our team providing legal support and investigative services to a large federal agency.

Skills and Attributes for Success:
  • Plan and conduct investigations
  • Perform quantitative, qualitative, or other analysis of relevant facts
  • Prepare reports supporting the mission
  • Develop and analyze evidence from investigations and law enforcement, collecting information from primary and secondary sources
  • Gather and analyze facts, statements, timelines, scientific or technical data to advance prosecutorial objectives
  • Establish and verify relationships among facts and evidence to confirm authenticity and build proof for litigation
  • Provide analysis on violations of federal law such as money laundering, wire fraud, mail fraud, bank fraud, healthcare fraud, procurement fraud, and related federal program fraud
  • Identify sources of information and variables
  • Conduct asset investigations, verify employment, and perform financial analysis to assess monetary penalties
  • Understand applicable federal, state, or local law to guide investigation scope and decisions
  • Devise methods for obtaining, preserving, and presenting evidence effectively
  • Collaborate with legal teams to determine applicable laws and identify violations
  • Support cases with ancillary services and use electronic databases for evidence identification
  • Prepare investigation reports and assist in document analysis and evidence presentation for court
  • Prepare affidavits and testify in court as needed
  • Plan, schedule, and resource investigations
  • Examine financial records and transactions
  • Verify relationships among facts and evidence to support case resolution
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of four years experience in complex civil or criminal investigations involving misuse of funds
  • Knowledge of investigative techniques and use of commercial databases
  • Valid driver’s license
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to pass background checks
Preferred Experience:
  • Law enforcement background
  • Data analysis and presentation skills
  • Financial record review experience
  • Interviewing witnesses
  • Experience with federal agencies like the U.S. Army or Department of Homeland Security
