Job summary

Qualifications

Position Summary:The Eligibility Worker, under general supervision, determines eligibility for income maintenance programs and services. Communicates and guides clients so that they understand program time limits and requirements as outlined in County, State, and Federal guidelines.Duties:Determine and redetermine client eligibility for a variety of programs, including Cash, SNAP, Health Care, Kinship, Long-Term Care, IV-E Foster Care, Adoption Assistance , Cost Effective Insurance, and Emergency Assistance. Provide case management services by interviewing clients, generating service agreements, completing vouchers, and making referrals to other agencies as needed. Mentor and train new employees as directed. Document and gather case information for quality control and audits. Prepare documents for fraud prevention and appeal hearing as well as attend the hearing either in person or by phone. Perform other duties as assigned.Required:High school diploma or equivalentMinimum of one year of experience working as an eligibility worker; OR two years of experience working in a Human Services Agency; OR two years of study at an accredited university with an emphasis in behavioral health sciences, business, or closely related subjects totaling 23 quarter credits.Preferred:Experience working with specialty computer programs such as: MAXIS, MMIS, METS, and/or CaseworksProficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, and Word.Excellent oral and written communication skills.The ability to work independently and as a team.
