Job summary

McFarlin Stanford seeks a hands-on Director of Finance to build and lead a centralized finance function for a growing, private equity-backed, multi-location platform. You will work closely with the CEO, GMs, and Board to guide day-to-day accounting and strategic financial planning.

This high-impact role requires 10+ years in finance with 3+ years in senior leadership, PE/ acquisition-driven experience, and a track record in multi-location operations. CPA, CFO, or VP-level exposure is a plus.

Job description

We are seeking a hands-on Director of Finance to lead and build a centralized finance function for a growing, private equity-backed commercial landscaping platform with multiple locations.

This position will work closely with the CEO, General Managers, and Board and will oversee both day-to-day accounting and forward-looking financial strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead budgeting, forecasting, FP&A, and financial reporting
• Own the monthly close and ensure accurate GAAP-based reporting
• Manage cash flow, including a rolling 13-week cash forecast
• Oversee AR, collections, AP, and procurement processes
• Analyze customer, contract, pricing, and service-line profitability
• Manage banking relationships, lender reporting, and covenant compliance
• Oversee capital expenditures, fleet/equipment financial planning, and expense management
• Build and improve financial systems, reporting, and processes across multiple locations
• Lead the financial integration of future acquisitions
• Develop and lead the finance/accounting team

Qualifications

• 10+ years of finance experience with 3+ years in a senior finance leadership role
• Experience overseeing both accounting and forward-looking finance
• Multi-location or multi-entity experience
• Experience within a private equity-backed or acquisition-driven company
• Background in landscaping, HVAC, plumbing, roofing, restoration, pest control, or another field-service industry preferred
• Strong FP&A, cash management, budgeting, and financial reporting experience
• Experience with Aspire, ServiceTitan, or a similar field-service ERP preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA, CFO, or VP of Finance experience is a plus
