Job summary

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is seeking a detail-oriented financial support professional to maintain and process accounting transactions across time and attendance, accounts payable/receivable, procurement, and travel in our fiscal systems.

You will analyze data, generate reports, ensure GAAP compliance, and communicate findings clearly with internal and external partners while working as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with internal and external customers.
• Ability to work independently or as a team member.
• Knowledge of basic accounting and business principles sufficient to monitor and analyze data.
• Knowledge of file management to include purging and disposing of files in accordance with records retention guidelines and schedules.
• Skill in performing basic math calculations.
• Skill in preparing financial reports and running queries.
• Skill in the use of computers and software applications to include automated inventory software and MS Office products.

Responsibilities

• Accounts Payable: Verify, reconcile invoices and data entry.
• Accounts Receivable: Process data entry for AR documentation.
• Financial Data: Run queries, compare expenditures, maintain reports and records.
• Inventory Data Processing: Enter receipts and issues into IMS and Cardinal, verify daily transactions.
• Time and Attendance: Data entry of time, overtime, leave, and equipment rental; produce financial reports.
• Travel: Data entry of travel authorizations and reimbursements.
