The Financial Counseling Supervisor oversees daily operations and staff, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and requirements, including ACA, GAP, Medicaid, and Indigent Care programs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing staff training to maintain Certified Application Counselor (CAC) certification and coordinating training across departments.
- Managing the MCV Foundation, ADAP processes, and coordinating the Ryan White program.
- Overseeing enhancements and daily operations of TransUnion and scanning processes.
- Providing updates and training on Governmental Systems such as DMAS Web Portal and CMS.
- Participating in system upgrades and enhancements.
- Assisting with government and third-party audits.
- Managing Gateway and OCS operational needs.
- Reviewing and negotiating payment arrangements and self-pay payments for services exceeding staff approval.
- Monitoring transplant case rates, reimbursement activities, and Medicare time studies.
- Preparing and managing financial counseling reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
Minimum requirements include:
- Certification as a CAC within one year of employment.
- Certification as a Revenue Cycle Specialist-Institutional (CRCS-I) or Patient Account Manager (CPAM) within one year.
- At least two years of experience in health insurance, healthcare billing, collections, or financial counseling.
- At least one year of supervisory or lead experience.
- Proficiency with computer applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Preferred qualifications:
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Over two years of supervisory/management experience.
- Experience with State and Government Insurance programs.
Educational background:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
Independent actions include supervising daily operations, communicating with auditors, staff, and patients, and managing personnel and compliance activities.
Supervisory duties involve overseeing the Indigent Care program, staff hiring, disciplinary actions, and performance evaluations, as well as monitoring regulatory compliance.
Additional requirements:
- Occasional weekend work.
