Job summary

Temple University Health System is seeking a Financial Counselor for per diem support. You will provide financial counseling to patients, verify insurance and determine eligibility, and handle clerical tasks to protect the hospital’s financial health.

The role requires strong communication in English and Spanish, with experience in healthcare billing and registration processes preferred. This is a per diem, temporary position based in Philadelphia, PA.

Qualifications

• 2 years experience as a financial counselor or related role in a healthcare environment.
• 5 years experience in a clerical role.
• General experience and knowledge of hospital registration and third party billing and regulations.
• General experience in bi-lingual Spanish and English communication preferred.

• Provide financial, credit and debt management counseling and education to patients.
• Perform complex insurance verification and eligibility determinations.
• Carry out varied administrative and clerical functions to minimize bad debt risk.

Description

Provides financial, credit, debt management counseling and education services to patients. Utilizes alternative means for obtaining coverage for uninsured or underinsured patients. Responsible for performing complex insurance verification and eligibility determinations as well as varied administrative and highly responsible clerical functions of a sensitive nature, including complex investigative and problem-solving activities in support of minimizing the hospital’s bad debt risk.
