Job summary

Nazareth Hospital is seeking a Patient Access Rep in Philadelphia for a pivotal role in financial counseling and patient billing. You will liaise with Revenue Site Operations and Patient Financial Services to determine patient liability and arrange suitable payment options.

The ideal candidate will have 2–3 years in Patient Access or Patient Accounting, a solid understanding of billing and coding, and HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA within a year.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree preferred.
• 2-3 years experience in Patient Access/Patient Accounting.
• Understanding of basic billing and coding.
• HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Counsels patients on cost of treatment, insurance benefits, and payment options.
• Secures and documents payment arrangements with patients or representatives.
• Assists patients with financing, payment plans, and financial assistance.
• Audits bills for accuracy and reduces front-end write-offs.
• Collaborates with RSO and leadership to improve collections.
• Experience with Medicaid application process.

Description

Job Title: Patient Access Rep

Employment Type: Full Time

Shift: 40hrs/wk, Day Shift M-F. Weekend and holiday requirements. Per department needs.

Location: Nazareth Hospital - Philadelphia, PA

Position Purpose

Financial advocate for the patient and a liaison between Revenue Site Operations (RSO) and Patient Financial Services (PFS). Determines liability on patient accounts and works with patients or their representatives to provide financial assistance or secure payment.

• Counsels patient on cost of treatment, insurance benefits, resources for payment and financial assistance. Secures and documents payment arrangements.
• Assists patients in financing, payment plans, financial assistance and all financial options through the organization.
• Audits bills for accuracy & edits for front-end inaccuracies to increase collections and decrease write-offs.
• Works closely with RSO and division leadership to improve collections.
• Experience in the Medicaid Application process.

Minimum Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent
• Associate degree (Preferred)
• Minimum two (2) to three (3) years experience working in Patient Access or Patient Accounting for hospital registration and / or hospital reimbursement services
• Understanding of basic billing and coding.
• HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA required within one (1) year of hire.
