Location: Concord, New Hampshire
Supporting: New Hampshire National Guard

Help New Hampshire National Guard Service Members and families build the financial readiness that supports mission readiness.

Military readiness starts long before a Service Member reports for duty. Financial stress, unexpected expenses, deployment-related changes in income, retirement decisions, and the complexities of military and federal benefits can directly affect the readiness of Service Members and their families.

LMR Technical Group is seeking an experienced Financial Counselor to support Soldiers, Airmen, and their families across the New Hampshire National Guard. This position combines individual financial counseling, financial education, retirement planning, deployment readiness, and outreach to help members make informed financial decisions throughout their military careers.

The PWS specifically requires the financial professional to hold a current Certified Financial Planner (CFP) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) credential.

Job Description

Provide financial counseling, education, and financial-readiness support to New Hampshire National Guard Service Members and their families. The Financial Counselor will provide individualized counseling while also developing and delivering educational programs addressing military compensation, benefits, retirement, deployment finances, debt management, budgeting, and long-term financial planning.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide individual and family financial counseling tailored to the unique financial circumstances of military households.
• Assist clients with household budgeting, debt management, savings strategies, financial goal setting, and long-term financial planning.
• Educate Service Members and families regarding military pay and entitlements, including Basic Allowance for Housing and other military compensation.
• Provide education regarding the Thrift Savings Plan, including fundamentals, contributions, investment considerations, and retirement strategies.
• Counsel Service Members regarding military, federal, and civilian retirement considerations, including AGR retirement and Federal Employees Retirement System considerations.
• Provide guidance regarding Social Security and its integration with military and federal retirement benefits.
• Educate Service Members and families regarding education benefits, including federal Tuition Assistance, GI Bill benefits, transfer of benefits to dependents, and applicable New Hampshire education benefits.
• Provide targeted financial-readiness instruction to newly enlisted Soldiers participating in the Recruit Sustainment Program, including budgeting, military pay, TSP fundamentals, and avoiding predatory lending.
• Support two New Hampshire National Guard retirement seminars annually and develop appropriate presentation materials and educational handouts.
• Conduct pre- and post-deployment financial readiness briefings addressing topics such as the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act, Savings Deposit Program, combat-zone financial considerations, and healthcare transitions.
• Provide specialized financial counseling to Dual-Status Federal Technicians and traditional Guard members regarding mobilization and civilian employment considerations, including military leave, USERRA-related financial considerations, FEHB, and TRICARE transitions.
• Assist in developing financial education videos and digital educational content for Service Members, families, prospective recruits, and parents.
• Maintain appropriate client documentation and contribute required program data and reporting.
• Participate in outreach events, unit meetings, drill weekends, and other NHNG activities as required.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Current Certified Financial Planner (CFP) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification.
• Demonstrated experience providing financial planning, financial counseling, financial education, or related advisory services.
• Strong knowledge of personal financial planning, budgeting, debt management, retirement planning, and investment fundamentals.
• Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly to individuals with varying levels of financial knowledge.
• Ability to develop and deliver professional educational presentations to both small and large audiences.
• Ability to successfully complete required background screening and meet Department of Defense installation and system-access requirements.
• Ability to travel to New Hampshire National Guard facilities and support scheduled drill weekends and organizational events as required.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with military members, veterans, or military families.
• Knowledge of military pay and entitlements, TSP, military retirement systems, TRICARE, GI Bill benefits, federal employee benefits, and USERRA.
