Job summary

Springwoods Behavioral Health, an 80-bed behavioral health facility located in Fayetteville, Arkansas, seeks a Financial Counselor to counsel patients on insurance benefits and collect out-of-pocket costs upfront. The role includes monitoring past-due bills and following up on documentation, identifying delinquencies and recommending dispositions.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in collections, knowledge of insurance terms, and experience with healthcare billing.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED REQUIRED.
  • At least 2 years of collections experience REQUIRED.
  • Previous experience in follow up with insurance companies, insurance verifications, and prior healthcare experience REQUIRED.
  • A working knowledge of insurance terms, reimbursement procedures, medical terminology and hospital services strongly preferred.
  • High attention to detail and ability to multitask in a high-volume setting is required.
  • Skill working with computerized accounting or EMR systems REQUIRED.
  • Positive attitude and a team player.

Full Time - Financial Counselor Needed!

The Financial Counselor is an important member of Springwoods Behavioral Health business office team. The Financial Counselor provides counseling to patients by explaining insurance benefits and collecting out of pocket costs up front. The Financial Counselor also monitors and reviews past due bills and follow up documents. We are looking for candidates who can identify problem delinquencies and recommend their appropriate disposition. We are looking for an employee who promotes a positive working environment and guest relations.

SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES:
  • Accurate typing and PC skills.
  • Excellent telephone skills.
  • Working knowledge of insurance terms, and reimbursement procedures, medical terminology, and hospital services.
  • Ability to interact in a positive manner and to communicate well with patients, families, co-workers, supervisor and other hospital employees in person and over the telephone.
  • Skill sets to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in how information is processed and should be processed.
  • Ability to work in behavioral health environment and observe the standards of care needed for patients.
  • Competency with working with third party payor, insurance companies, private pay accounts.
  • Competency with detailed recordkeeping, including financial and confidential data.

Springwoods Behavioral Health, an 80-bed behavioral health facility located in Fayetteville, Arkansas, provides acute inpatient treatment for adolescent, adult, and specialty program for women. The hospital also offers outpatient treatment. Our six-acre campus is adjacent to a 123-acre Audubon Wildlife and Bird Sanctuary, which is held in perpetuity and cannot be developed from its natural state. This provides Springwoods with a peaceful setting for those embarked on the road to recovery.
