Job summary

Anotherland is seeking an experienced Financial Controller / Director of Finance to oversee and enhance financial operations across six entities. You will manage day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, ensuring US GAAP compliance and accurate royalty accounting for streaming platforms.

The role partners with the CFO and external auditors, leads internal controls, drives cash flow management, and guides strategic financial planning in a fast-paced music business.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of financial management experience in music/media/entertainment.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in accounting or finance; CPA preferred.
• Proficient in US GAAP and revenue recognition.

Responsibilities

• Own the day-to-day operational financial responsibility of the six business entities.
• Support CFO by managing all financial operations and internal/external reporting, including budgeting and forecasting.
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP and industry-specific financial regulations.
• Manage revenue recognition and royalty accounting related to streaming DSPs (Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music).
• Develop and implement financial controls and processes to enhance efficiency.
• Monitor cash flow, accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger accounting.
• Collaborate with CFO, external auditors, tax advisors, and legal teams to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Generate and present financial statements, reports, and KPIs to CFO and senior management.
• Assist in strategic financial planning, including evaluating new business opportunities and investment analysis.
• Stay up-to-date with trends in digital music distribution and licensing.

Anotherland is a dynamic and growing record label, publishing company, creative agency and catalog acquisition fund dedicated to producing, distributing and commercializing high-quality music across various genres. We work closely with artists, producers, and distribution platforms to bring innovative sounds to global audiences.

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller / Director of Finance to oversee and enhance our financial operations with expertise in US GAAP and streaming DSP accounting.

Role Responsibilities

• This role will own the day-to-day operational financial responsibility of the business and must be capable of autonomously handling all financial and accounting aspects of the six business entities.
• Support CFO by managing all financial operations and internal and external financial reporting, including budgeting and forecasting.
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP and industry-specific financial regulations.
• Manage revenue recognition and royalty accounting related to streaming DSPs (Digital Service Providers) such as Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music.
• Develop and implement financial controls and processes to enhance efficiency.
• Monitor cash flow, accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger accounting.
• Work closely with CFO, external auditors, tax advisors, and legal teams to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Generate and present financial statements, reports, and key performance indicators to CFO and senior management.
• Assist in strategic financial planning, including evaluating new business opportunities and investment analysis.
• Stay up-to-date with trends in digital music distribution and licensing.

Requirements

• PREFERENCE GIVEN TO THOSE WITH - Experience in music industry, DSP accounting and royalty reporting.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting or finance (CPA preferred).
• 10+ years of experience in financial management, preferably within the music, media, or entertainment industry – with proven track record of all responsibilities indicated above.
• Professional knowledge of US GAAP and revenue recognition principles.
• Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving industry with tight deadlines.
