Job summary

Build Partners USA LLC is seeking a hands-on Construction Controller for its Weatherford, TX operations. The role focuses on owning day-to-day accounting in a busy, high-volume construction environment, partnering with senior leadership to improve financial performance and controls.

You will manage general ledger, cost reporting, and compliance while leading a team and influencing ongoing process improvements in a growing, family-owned general contractor setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years progressive accounting experience within construction or related fields.
• 3+ years in Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or Controller roles.
• Strong knowledge of construction job costing, WIP reporting, and financial statements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations: general ledger, AP/AR, payroll oversight, and cash management.
• Lead month-end and year-end closing, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Manage construction job costing, WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion accounting, and project profitability reporting.
• Oversee progress billing, retainage, change orders, and construction contract accounting.
• Partner with project managers and ops leadership to monitor financial performance.
• Lead and develop the accounting team and drive system/process improvements.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, audits, and financial compliance.

Salary: $120,000-$150,000 Base + Profit Sharing + Benefits

The Opportunity

Build Partners has been exclusively engaged to identify an experienced Construction Controller for a well-established, family-owned commercial general contractor in West DFW.

With nearly four decades in the construction industry and approximately $250M in annual revenue, our client offers an exciting opportunity to join a successful, growing business with a strong reputation and an established leadership team.

This is not a traditional executive-level CFO position.

We're looking for a hands‑on accounting leader who enjoys being involved in the detail, takes ownership of financial operations, and thrives in a busy, high-volume construction environment.

You'll work closely with senior leadership, take responsibility for the day-to-day accounting function, and have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the business as it continues to grow.

What You'll Be Doing

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll oversight and cash management.

What We're Looking For

• Proven accounting experience within a commercial general contractor, industrial contractor or specialty construction business.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in an Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller or Controller position.
• Strong working knowledge of construction job costing, WIP reporting and financial statements.
• Experience with Sage 300 CRE (Timberline) and/or Sage Intacct.
• Advanced Excel skills and a solid understanding of GAAP.
• A practical, hands‑on leadership style with the ability to manage a busy accounting function.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• A CPA is not required.

Location
