Job summary

Carter Rolan Group in Royse City, TX is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to own the accounting function for a commercial construction business. The role focuses on accurate project costing, profitability and financial control, working closely with ownership.

You will lead month-end close, manage job costing, WIP, progress billing, A/R, AP, payroll and internal controls with hands-on autonomy onsite five days per week.

Qualifications

• Direct experience in commercial construction accounting.

Schedule: Full-time | Monday-Friday | 100% Onsite

We are recruiting an experienced, hands-on Financial Controller for an established commercial construction business in Royse City, TX.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of the accounting function, working directly with business ownership to maintain financial control, manage construction accounting processes and provide accurate visibility over project costs and profitability.

We are looking for someone who understands the financial workings of a commercial construction contractor, not simply a generalist Controller.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the day-to-day accounting function, month-end close and financial reporting.
• Manage construction job costing, WIP schedules and project profitability reporting.
• Oversee progress billing, invoicing, accounts receivable and collections.
• Handle lien waivers, lien documentation and associated construction billing requirements.
• Manage accounts payable, payroll, bank reconciliations and cash flow.
• Monitor project expenditure, subcontractor payments and financial accuracy.
• Maintain accounting records, internal controls and reporting for business ownership.
• Improve accounting processes and ensure effective use of accounting software.
• Direct experience in commercial construction accounting.

• Practical knowledge of construction progress billing, lien waivers and liens.
• Strong accounting software proficiency; Sage or Xero experience preferred.
• Ability to manage accounting responsibilities independently.
• Comfortable working directly with business ownership in a hands-on environment.
• Able to work onsite in Royse City, five days per week.
