Job description

We are a fast-growing semiconductor company looking for an entrepreneurial, hands‑on Controller to lead our accounting and financial operations, including close collaboration with our Korea subsidiary. This position is based in the US, with the majority of our sub-100-person team located in Korea.

This highly visible role is the ultimate bridge between our US and Korean organizations requiring strong cost accounting knowledge appropriate for our semiconductor operations. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced “small company” environment and will be expected to build processes and collaborate across international time zones with our Sales and Engineering teams.

This critical role offers a unique challenge of managing international growth, the agility of a startup, and the massive upside of the expanding semiconductor industry.

Responsibilities
  • Global Cost Accounting: Oversee product costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis for our semiconductor manufacturing and R&D activities.
  • Cross-Functional & Cross-Time-Zone Collaboration: Partner with Sales on revenue recognition and our global Engineering on R&D budgeting and project tracking.
  • Financial Reporting & Consolidation: Bridge local Korean accounting data into US compliance structures, prepare timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (IFRS/US GAAP). Prepare for a first audit.
  • Process Scaling: Establish and optimize financial controls and implement ERP systems that seamlessly connect the US headquarters and the Korean operations.
Qualifications

Required

  • Education: Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field: CPA preferred.
  • Experience: 15+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with a background in the technology, hardware, or semiconductor industries.
  • The “Small Company” Mindset: Experience working in a fast-paced environment wearing multiple hats—equally adept at high-level financial strategy and hands‑on execution.
  • Cost Accounting Expertise: Solid understanding of inventory, COGS, and manufacturing variances in a hardware environment.
  • Flexibility: Must be flexible for evening meetings and maintaining high quality communication across global teams.

Highly Desired

  • Business Savvy: A commercial mindset with the ability to understand the technical milestones of Engineering and the commercial goals of Sales, and to provide financial advice that drives business growth.
  • Global Tools Familiarity: Experience with global ERP systems, and the ability to choose the right solution and then lead implementation.
  • Finance and Forecasting Skills: FP&A and forecasting skills would be valuable.
  • Curiosity and ability to deeply understand complex products.
