A flourishing and rapidly growing law office in the Houston area is seeking an experienced Controller to lead and elevate its accounting and financial operations. This is a key leadership role for a dynamic professional ready to make a lasting impact in a collaborative and fast-paced legal environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee all core accounting functions including general ledger, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, fixed assets, and inventory accounting.
Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings and ensure the timely preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statements.
Prepare detailed financial reports with variance analysis and provide actionable insights to firm leadership.
Manage annual budgets and financial forecasts in alignment with strategic goals.
Supervise banking relationships and online financial operations, including wire transfers and account reconciliation.
Collaborate with leadership on attorney settlement disbursements, expense verification, and performance bonuses.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master’s or CPA strongly preferred.
8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with 3+ years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role (legal or professional services industry a plus).
Proficient in ERP systems (QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, etc.) and advanced Excel.
Strong understanding of US GAAP, budgeting, and financial reporting.
Prior experience managing or supporting HR functions including payroll, benefits, and onboarding.
Demonstrated leadership ability with a proactive, detail-oriented, and ethical approach.
