Job summary

Total Comfort Heating & Air is seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting and financial operations at our Fredericksburg service center. You will partner with the General Manager to improve financial performance and internal controls in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates bring five years of general-accounting experience, solid GAAP knowledge, and strong Excel/ERP skills. This full-time, on-site role offers competitive pay with an annual bonus plan and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• At least five years of progressive general-accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP.
• ERP or computerized accounting systems; JD Edwards a plus.
• Advanced proficiency with Excel and working knowledge of Office.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication.
• Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Previous team leadership or accounting-management experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting and financial-control activities for the service center.

• Oversee operating and capital budgets, forecasts, and inventory controls.
• Analyze financial results across service, sales, dispatch, fleet, HR and more.
• Provide financial reporting, variance analysis, and labor-wage evaluations.
• Establish internal controls for inventory, purchasing, shipping, labor reporting.
• Conduct profitability and cost-reduction analyses across the business.
• Develop monthly financial statements, rolling forecasts, and annual plans.
• Manage month-end and year-end closing procedures.

What You'll Do

• Lead all accounting and financial-control activities for the service center.

• Oversee operating and capital budgets, financial forecasts, and inventory controls.
• Analyze financial results across service, sales, dispatch, fleet, customer service, purchasing, safety, and HR.
• Provide financial reporting, variance analysis, labor-wage evaluations, and recommendations to leadership.
• Establish and maintain internal controls for inventory, purchasing, shipping and receiving, labor reporting, and operational processes.
• Conduct profitability and cost-reduction analyses across the business.
• Coordinate the development of monthly financial statements, rolling forecasts, annual operating plans, and capital plans.
• Manage month-end and year-end closing procedures.

  Qualifications

  What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • At least five years of progressive general-accounting experience.
  • Equivalent combinations of relevant education, training, and experience may be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience with ERP or computerized accounting systems; JD Edwards experience is a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships across departments and leadership levels.
  • Proven ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced operating environment.
