Job summary

Career Movement in Rhode Island is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting function within a private equity backed manufacturing environment. This standalone leadership role reports to executive leadership and ownership, offering visibility and impact across the organization.

The ideal candidate will have 7–10+ years in accounting with a strong manufacturing/cost accounting background, CPA/CMA preferred, and proven people leadership to drive timely close, budgeting, and audit

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Manufacturing cost accounting background including standard costing, inventory valuation, COGS, and margin analysis.
• Advanced Excel skills with ability to build and maintain reporting.
• CPA or CMA preferred, or equivalent accounting experience.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly, quarterly, and year-end close with financial statements and management reporting.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Oversee manufacturing cost accounting, inventory valuation, and margin analysis.
• Manage AP, AR, GL, fixed assets, and reconciliations.
• Partner with operations on production costs and profitability.
• Lead external audit and maintain internal controls.

A well established, private equity backed manufacturer of commercial and industrial products, serving commercial, industrial, and healthcare facility markets across North America, is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting function. This is a standalone leadership seat with direct visibility to executive leadership and ownership.

Required Qualifications

• 7-10+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong manufacturing or cost accounting background (standard costing, inventory valuation, COGS, margin analysis)
• Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to build and maintain your own reporting and analysis
• Proven people-management and leadership experience
• CPA or CMA preferred, or equivalent accounting experience

Key Responsibilities

• Own monthly, quarterly, and year end close, including financial statement preparation and management reporting
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Oversee manufacturing cost accounting, inventory valuation, and margin analysis
• Manage AP, AR, general ledger, fixed assets, and reconciliations
• Partner with operations on production costs and profitability
• Lead the external audit relationship and maintain strong internal controls and processes
• Provide financial analysis and recommendations to executive leadership
