Financial Controller

Bowers Metrology are looking to appoint a Financial Controller to lead the finance function at our Bradford site.

Reporting directly to the Bowers Managing Director, with a reporting and compliance relationship into Spear & Jackson Group Finance, you will play a key role in providing accurate financial reporting, commercial insight and support to the Bowers Management Team.

You will take ownership of the monthly management accounts and financial reporting, including profit and loss, cash flow, forecasting, inventory valuation, variance analysis and margin reporting. You will also support budgeting and business planning, oversee standard costing and production variances, and provide financial insight to support decisions around costs, stock, cash flow and overall business performance.

The role also includes responsibility for Group reporting, audit preparation and annual stocktaking, alongside working closely with colleagues across the business to improve financial processes and performance.

You will manage and support a Financial Assistant, with access to shared Group transactional finance resources. The role is predominantly based at our Bradford site, with some occasional travel to the Atlas site in Sheffield.

What about you? We're looking for an experienced finance professional with a strong background in manufacturing finance, ideally qualified or part-qualified CIMA or ACCA, or with significant relevant experience. You will have a good understanding of management accounting, standard costing, budgeting, forecasting and production variances, together with strong Excel and analytical skills. SAP experience would be advantageous.

This is a hands-on, visible role offering the opportunity to work closely with senior management, influence business performance and take real ownership of the finance function within a successful UK engineering business.
