Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an Insurance & Financial Clearance Specialist to join its Revenue Cycle team in Seattle. The role focuses on verifying insurance eligibility and benefits, coordinating coverage, and estimating patient financial responsibility before treatment or dispensing medications.

The specialist collaborates with scheduling, clinical staff, billing, and the Prior Authorization Coordinator to ensure payer requirements are identified and met, while maintaining accurate records and HIPAA

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, public health, or health sciences.
• At least two years of healthcare patient access, insurance verification, or related revenue cycle experience.
• Working knowledge of health insurance concepts including eligibility, benefits, deductibles, copays, and network participation.
• Experience with electronic health records or practice management systems.
• Ability to protect patient information and HIPAA compliance.
• Bachelor’s degree or HFMA/AAPC/AHIMA certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Verify patient insurance eligibility and active medication coverage.
• Determine medical and pharmacy benefits and identify the appropriate billing pathway.
• Identify referrals, authorization requirements, benefit limitations, and communicate findings to the Prior Authorization Coordinator.
• Coordinate primary, secondary, and tertiary insurance benefits to ensure accurate billing sequence.
• Estimate patient financial responsibility using established tools and payer information.
• Collaborate with scheduling, clinic staff, pharmacy, billing, and the Prior Authorization Coordinator to facilitate timely financial clearance.
• Refer patients to the Patient Access Navigator when financial assistance is needed.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and accurate records across systems.
