Summary:

The Financial Benefits Analyst supports all aspects of financial analysis related to clients’ group benefits programs. They work closely and collaboratively with other members of the financial support team to provide support to Account Managers and Benefits Consultants. Deliverables will include benefit and financial illustrations that allow clients to properly evaluate their benefit plans.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  1. Draft accurate market exhibits for quarterly and annual meetings
  2. May assist the Benefits Consultant with carrier negotiation process
  3. Drafts and reviews client utilization reports using various carrier reporting methods. Analyzes data and identifies opportunities for plan design and product changes, based upon observed utilization patterns
  4. Analyzes industry benchmarks and drafts information for the client to show their competitiveness in the industry
  5. Develops and maintains strong working relationships with carrier partners
  6. Acts as lead on RFP process during annual marketing cycle for select clients
  7. Creates and maintains annual rate/benefit proposal for select clients
  8. Runs various scenarios for clients using various models such as contributions, underwriting projections and plan design values
  9. Maintains accurate, current, organized, and complete market information in internal databases
  10. Assists team and client as necessary with special projects
  11. Acts as a mentor for Analysts

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements:

  1. Ability to analyze data and recognize analytical patterns
  2. Strong verbal and written communication skills
  3. Ability to effectively handle multiple and changing client priorities and deadlines
  4. Must be self-motivated, flexible, and disciplined
  5. Ability to coach, mentor, and guide team members
  6. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Education, Training and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree, required; Business, Finance, Math, Accounting, or related field, preferred
  2. Proficient in all Microsoft Office products, required
  3. Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, required
  4. Experience in the healthcare industry working for group insurance carrier, broker, or consultant, preferred
  5. Knowledge of group insurance including medical, dental, CDHP, pharmacy, life, and disability products, strongly preferred
  6. Experience with database applications, a plus
  7. Minimum 3+ years' cumulative industry experience
  8. Life & Health license, required

The typical base pay range for this role nationwide is $75,000 to $78,000 per year.

Your base pay is dependent upon your skills, education, qualifications, professional experience, and location. In addition to base pay, some roles are eligible for variable compensation, commission, and/or annual bonus based on your individual performance and/or the company’s performance. We also offer eligible employees health, wellbeing, retirement, and other financial benefits, paid time off, overtime pay for non-exempt employees, and robust learning and development programs. You will receive reimbursement of job-related expenses per the company policy and may receive employee perks and discounts.
