Job summary

Harris County is seeking a technically skilled financial analyst to perform routine analysis of financial statements, prepare work papers and reports, and develop interpretations and recommendations for management. The role involves creating schedules, graphs, and dashboards, and supporting departmental financial operations with spreadsheet and database skills.

No experience is required, and a Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting is required.

Qualifications

• Policies, practices, procedures and terminology of assigned function.
• GAAP and standardized financial, accounting and auditing practices.
• Budget planning, development, preparation, and monitoring.
• Manual and automated systems relating to assigned function.

Responsibilities

• Prepares financial reports by preparing periodic internal and external financial documents, supporting schedules and financial reports.
• Assists department accounting staff in meeting their financial and accounting goals; maintains financial programs.
• Analyzes financial statements and reports.
• Reviews and evaluates selected financial reports with department representatives.
• Compiles financial data and prepares work papers, schedules, graphs and charts as required.
• Develops and maintains computer spreadsheets, databases and queries; supports departmental financial operations; conducts financial analyses.
