FT / PT Status – Full-Time
Benefits Eligibility – This position is eligible for a full benefits package.
Salary – $25.65 - $30.75 Hourly Wage

Key Responsibilities

This is a Financial Analyst III position in the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). This position responsibility may include federal funds tracking and reconciliation; coordination with department offices and Divisions of Finance & Administration submission and monitoring; interpret reports and fiscal information; participate in developing, modifying, or enhancing federal reporting processes, fiscal procedures and practices; develop and interpret financial reports; research financial problem areas; and exercise decision making in recording and analyzing financial data.

Day-to-day responsibilities of this position:
  • Assist in preparing quarterly Medicaid financial reports for submission to the federal government.
  • Conduct recurring financial reconciliations for Medicaid and ensure accuracy across federal funding draws and transactions.
  • Review, submit and approve financial transactions while ensuring compliance with agency coding policies and supporting internal controls.
  • Support year-end financial processes and maintain accurate financial coding across teams.
  • Oversee routine operational needs such as report and query management, transaction tracking, and backup approval duties.
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting
  • Perform other related financial or administrative duties assigned to support agency needs.
Qualifications
Minimum or "day-one" qualifications:
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify issues proactively and develop effective solutions.
  • Expertise in financial systems and spreadsheet applications, particularly Excel and Google Sheets, to manage and analyze data efficiently.
  • Strong analytical capabilities combined with exceptional organizational skills to handle complex workflows and maintain accurate records.
  • Has the ability to communicate professionally in both written and verbal forms.
Preferred or trainable/on-the-job qualifications:
  • Two or more years of professional financial analysis experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in state or local government financial management, including familiarity with public‑sector processes and regulations.
  • Solid understanding of governmental budget standards and practices.
  • Preference may be given to those with a bachelor's degree or higher in a business or financial related field, years of relevant work and senior management experience, or for a current CPA license.
