Job summary

MDU Resources Group is seeking a detail‑oriented accounting professional to support monthly, quarterly and annual closes, and to assist with budget and forecast processes. You will perform reconciliations, analyses and data requests while upholding GAAP and SOX controls.

The role may involve 1099 reporting support, unclaimed property, and vendor data maintenance, with a focus on accuracy and compliance across multiple entities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; and
• Two years related accounting/finance experience.
• Four years related accounting experience, with a minimum of two years in financial analysis.

Responsibilities

• Complete day-to-day activities, calculations, reconciliations and analyses for periodic financial closes.
• Assist in coordination and administration of budgets, Operating Plan and five-year forecast.
• Recommend enhancements to accounting policies, procedures and information systems.
• Ensure GAAP, SOX and FERC compliance; analyze and report variances with supporting documents.
• Prepare internal statements and respond to data requests from internal and external entities.
