Job summary

Oxy in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced Financial Analyst to join the Accounting Department. This role supports monthly close, forecasting, and financial planning activities.

You will prepare accruals and journal entries, maintain financial models, review statements, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial information and policy compliance while meeting tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting or related field
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Detail-oriented with high accuracy
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Willingness to work overtime for monthly close

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly accruals and journal entries
• Prepare monthly close schedules and variance reports
• Ensure monthly close deadlines are met
• Support the monthly outlook and annual budget process
• Maintain and update financial models to reflect current business conditions
• Review financial statements and perform account reconciliations
• Analyze financial statement activity and summarize for business unit and accounting management
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial information and policy compliance
• Assist with internal and external audit requests, as well as other special projects
• Help and coordinate other duties as required
