Job summary

Montclair, CA area-based Financial Analyst role with a growing construction-focused company. You will support financial reporting, forecasting, and executive decision-making, handling large datasets and turning raw data into actionable insights.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of financial analysis experience in project-based industries, advanced Excel skills, and strong accounting knowledge. Onsite, with comprehensive benefits and a base salary of $90,000–$100,000.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field preferred.
  • 7+ years of financial analysis and financial reporting experience.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and accounting principles.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, Power Query, and Financial Modeling.
  • Proven ability to work with large datasets (100,000+ rows) and transform raw data into meaningful reporting.
  • Experience with ERP systems; SAP experience is highly desirable.
  • Construction industry experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting project-based operations, subcontractor reporting, equipment utilization analysis, or job costing is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and highly dependable with strong business acumen.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze monthly financial results, including P&L, balance sheets, and operational reports.
  • Prepare, enhance, and maintain financial reports, dashboards, and executive reporting packages.
  • Perform variance analysis and identify key performance drivers and business trends.
  • Support forecasting, financial planning, and month-end reporting activities.
  • Extract, analyze, and interpret large volumes of data to provide meaningful business insights.
  • Convert raw data into polished, executive-level reporting and presentations.
  • Develop ad hoc analyses and reports for senior leadership.
  • Partner closely with Accounting and Operations to improve reporting accuracy and performance.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and reporting efficiencies.
  • Support the company's transition to SAP and assist with reporting optimization efforts.

About the Opportunity

Our client, a growing and well-established construction company, is seeking an experienced Financial Analyst to support financial reporting, forecasting, business analysis, and executive decision‑making. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on analyst who enjoys working with large datasets, transforming raw information into meaningful reports, and providing actionable insights that drive business performance.

The ideal candidate will have strong financial analysis experience within construction, manufacturing, utilities, oil & gas, or other project‑based industries, along with advanced Excel skills and a solid understanding of accounting and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities
