Qualifications

  • Experience managing and querying databases to run reports.
  • Knowledge of program/divisional financial activities and allocation, full cost recovery budgeting and procedures.
  • Analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to manage complex financial situations.

Job description

Our Financial Management and Procurement Services division seeks a Financial Analyst to serve as a key member of the Division’s management team responsible for budgetary and accounting information. The analyst will primarily support the Strategic Security Sciences (SSS) Division and respond to a variety of ad hoc budgetary and accounting requests from DOE, Laboratory management, Directorate management, Division management, and programmatic staff.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare or manage the preparation of monthly, routine, and ad hoc financial reports and analyses under tight time constraints.
  • Prepare financial data for reviews and presentations, costing estimates for funding proposals, and plan and control expenditures for organization units.
  • Perform complex financial analysis and cost‑control functions; research, synthesize data, identify trends, draw conclusions, develop solutions, present and implement recommendations, and conduct follow‑up analysis.
  • Provide guidance on financial policies, procedures, and requirements while maintaining a broader organizational perspective.
  • Develop regular and ad hoc reports of complex financial data; identify and resolve unique issues with substantial significance.
  • Offer consulting advice to stakeholders on matters involving complex financial subject matter, including proposal development.
  • Monitor spending, analyze variances, identify funding problems, and resolve financial discrepancies.
  • Exercise funds control over purchases, subcontracts, service contracts, travel, service requests, material orders, effort charges, and related activities.
  • Maintain an on‑site presence of at least 3 days per week in Lemont, Illinois.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent.
  • Advanced knowledge of budget management, financial analysis, and basic accounting principles.
  • Advanced proficiency in business applications, including Excel and Access.
  • Experience managing and querying databases to run reports.
  • Knowledge of program/divisional financial activities and of direct and indirect allocation, full cost recovery budget and financial procedures.
  • Knowledge of Strategic Partnership Projects, CRADAs, and proposal documentation and flow.
  • Analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to organize and manage complex financial situations.
  • Ability to work under limited direction to accomplish objectives and to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Strong communication skills, extreme attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and adapt to change.
  • Ability to cross‑train and mentor team members.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Pay range: $95,250.00 – $148,590.00 (general guideline; final offer based on qualifications and market factors).
  • Comprehensive benefits are part of the total rewards package.
