About the Opportunity:

Our large publicly held lending client is seeking a Financial Analyst to join their Production FP&A team. This team supports the national branches, focusing on revenue generation within its mortgage business. The role is highly dynamic, involving frequent interaction with Sales and Loan Officer groups across the country. You’ll work closely with field and branch leadership (such as Regional VPs) to analyze performance, address business-critical questions and model out scenarios that will help leadership make decisions to reduce costs or capture more revenue. This role involves both project-based financial analysis and investigative work—digging into data integrity issues, variances, and performance anomalies, and presenting actionable insights and solutions.

The finance leadership is focused on shifting the team’s culture from transactional reporting to a strategic, analytical mindset. Rather than simply producing reports, analysts are expected to challenge data, ask questions, and take ownership of delivering clear, reliable, and meaningful financial insights. This includes pushing back on data from other departments when necessary to ensure accuracy and integrity.

Compensation: $80k to $120k base + bonus & competitive benefits package.

Please note that this range is an estimate. Actual compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities:

• Support monthly and quarterly financial reporting for internal management and executive leadership, with a focus on mortgage production performance.
• Analyze retail and operational data to uncover trends and respond to business inquiries by navigating accounting and operational systems.
• Leverage advanced Excel skills and business intelligence tools (such as Power BI and Mysore) to generate reports, build dashboards, and conduct pivot-based analyses.
• Partner with Sales teams to understand data workflows and ensure alignment between business activity and financial reporting.
• Contribute to special projects, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A) integration, financial modeling, and system data migrations.
• Collaborate with Accounting and Business Intelligence teams to improve data accuracy and analytical capabilities.
• Proactively investigate anomalies, ask thoughtful questions, and deliver clear and confident communications around findings.
• Perform ad hoc and quick-turn analyses, working with mortgage data to deliver strategic insights and support decision-making.

Requirements:

• 2+ years of experience for Financial Analyst, 4+ years of experience for Senior Financial Analyst
• Mortgage industry experience (retail/production side preferred) but also open to the corporate side for someone with a strong understanding of mortgage business model, and supporting/working with loan officers
• Strong business partnering skills and ability to push back on
• Advanced Excel expertise (pivot tables, formulas, modeling)
