Job summary

Georgia Piedmont Technical College is seeking a Financial Aid Specialist to support the delivery of student financial aid services at the DeKalb or Newton campus. You will review applications, determine eligibility, and award aid using the college’s software while maintaining accurate records.

Ideal candidates will have an Associate’s degree with three years’ related experience; Banner experience is required. A Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree and three years of related work experience.
• One year of experience working with Banner.
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree and three years in Financial Aid.
• Applicants must meet minimum qualifications for consideration.

Responsibilities

• Process and review financial aid applications for completeness and eligibility.
• Determine eligibility and award financial aid using software; verify documents.
• Monitor SAP status and request information as needed for needs analysis.
• Counsel students and parents on financial aid and VA opportunities.
• Provide high-quality customer service in person, by phone, and email; update accounts.

This individual will report to the Executive Director of Financial Aid.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Collects and reviews financial aid applications to determine completeness and eligibility.Determines eligibility and awards financial aid applicants using various software packages; processes applications and corrections, tracks documents, completes the verification process, generates tracking and award notifications.Monitors SAP status for students; requests additional information for incomplete or inconsistent applications to perform accurate needs analysis.Counsels and advises students and parents concerning financial aid and VA opportunities and application processes.Demonstrated exceptional customer service skills and ability to work in a high- volume and fast paced environment required. Ability to work harmoniously with other employees; must be detail-oriented with the ability to meet and interact with individuals of diverse backgrounds. Manage customer service and call center support by handling inquiries in- person, answering phone calls, email responses and updating account records.Performs other duties as assigned.MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS:Associate's degree *and* three (3) years of related work experience.
